July 30: A BJP delegation led by the party’s vice president, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, submitted a memorandum to President Pratibha Devisingh Patil seeking declassification of documents relating to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri’s death. BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh, who is also the grandson of the late Prime Minister, was also part of the delegation.
In the memorandum, it was stated that "nation was appalled to read in a national newspaper that the Prime Minister Office has refused to entertain RTI plea seeking declassification of documents relating to the death of Lal Bahadur Shastri in Tashkent in 1966."
Through the memorandum, the BJP leaders said nation wants to know the truth ... |
